Handeland Fashion

Handeland Fashion is a new Norwegian menswear brand, started by two brothers from the Stavanger region. We're building the brand around a problem we've felt on our own bodies: most clothing is graded for an average or heavier build, so it fits an athletic, trained body poorly - tight across the shoulders, or loose enough to look like a sack around the waist. We make clothes that are actually cut for an athletic physique: broader across the shoulders and chest, narrower at the waist.

Our material philosophy is just as simple: a lot of modern clothing contains plastic and synthetic fibers, and even garments in genuine natural materials often skimp on fabric weight and quality. We do the opposite - cotton, linen and wool, with a fabric weight that's never an afterthought, even though it's the part of the cost we have to absorb.

The name isn't made up. “Handeland” is a real Norwegian surname with farm/place-name origins - among them the place Handeland in Sirdal - and we use it the way menswear brands have done for a long time before us: the founders' surname as the trademark, a story about real craftsmanship rather than plastic gimmicks. That the name literally starts with “hand” doesn't hurt.

We're early in the process. Right now we're at the prototyping stage with our first two garments - a t-shirt and a cotton oxford shirt - and we're planning our first production run in early 2027. That's why we're starting with preorders rather than a large stock: it gives us an honest picture of what's actually in demand, and lets us keep quality high without tying up capital in clothes nobody has asked for yet.
